Stan Hunt was Jon Carroll's boyfriend before Mark Whitten. He lived at "The Doghouse" in Silverlake at the same time as Jon Carroll and Mark did. He was a wild child and also very manic-depressive. He took photography classes with me at LACC and shared my studio and darkroom downtown in the Boy's Building. He started the garden in my front yard, planting cana where I thought nothing would grow. He worked at a beauty salon in Beverly Hills and was the first to shave Joni's head in my bathroom. When he passed away in his home town in Kentucky, he had his mother ship his ashes to me to throw into the Pacific. I wrapped them in purple tulle and threw them over the pier near the merry-go-round.
