"Little Dee"was
a smart, frisky, petite woman who often compensated for petite-ness with an
incredibly loud operatic voice. Shouting matches with Claire Glidden (not petite
and usually running the door) at the Brave Dog
club during 1981-82 are my fondest memories of Dee. These two would yell and
bellow strange phrases competitively until, exhausted, they gave up and started
laughing instead. It would spread throughout the club and last for a long time.
Magic. Laughing for no particular reason was a blissful gift. All encompassing
love and spontaneous fun is what this lovely lady was about.
She met an extremely tall sexy wildman
(at Brave Dog) named Joey (a New York Italian) and they were coupled and eventually
married. He developed AIDS at some point and they had a child and moved back
to New York. Dee eventually got sick, too.
This is not a whole or even adequate
story. It's all I know. -jm
